Coach Selection Process

Application - All coach applicants must complete a CCHA coach application form, a Coach's Code of Conduct form, a Consent to Treat form, and a Waiver of Liability form before player tryouts.  These forms can be found by clicking here.

Please complete these forms and return them to CCHA, Attn: Coach Selection Process, PO Box 1006, Chanhassen, MN 55317  

Interview for Head Coaches only – All head coach candidates must complete an interview with the Coach Selection Committee each year. Head coach candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview with the committee.

The Coach Selection Committee will consist of the following members:
Director of Hockey Operations
Appropriate High School Coach
Appropriate Level Commissioner
President

Qualifications – Candidates will be evaluated and ranked by level using the following criteria and guiding principles

Guiding Principles

-Strong Ambassador for the association.

-Will not use coaching as a platform to emphasize their own child’s development and enjoyment.

-Will conform to association systems and philosophies

Criteria

-Interpersonal Skills

-Ability to Teach and Work Positively with the Kids

-Coaching and Playing Experience

-Hockey Knowledge

-Problem Solving Skills

Note: Non-parent coaches are secured for Peewee "A" and Bantam "A" Teams

Notification Process - Coaching applicants are ranked according to the principles and criteria listed above. Non-parent Coaches will be offered positions in advance of tryouts and will be expected to participate in player evaluations. Offers will be extended to parent candidates immediately following the completion of tryouts. The positions will be offered in the order of their ranking and will be aligned to where their child placed in tryouts.

Coaches applying at multiple levels will not be allowed to wait for other tryout levels to be completed before accepting an offer.

Example: If the Bantam B1 position is offered, the coach cannot wait until Squirt tryouts are completed to decide on which level he would prefer coaching at.
